Merja Laine is an Associate Professor (University of Helsinki), a seasoned general practitioner and diabetologist who served as Chief Physician at the Paimio-Sauvo Health Center before retiring. She has published over 80 medical articles and defended her doctoral thesis in spring 2024 on the topic: “Type 2 diabetes and prediabetes in Southwest Finland – prevalence, treatment implementation, incidence of comorbidities, and treatment costs.”
