Reeta Jokiniemi is completing her Master’s studies in Health Management Science at the University of Oulu. Jokiniemi focuses her thesis on HippocrAItes’ Health Account service, which gives individuals an active role in managing and utilizing their health data. “My studies have provided significant added value: understanding social and healthcare service systems, principles of evidence-based development, regulation, and project management practices,” Jokiniemi says.
The three-month internship at HippocrAItes in autumn 2025 gave Reeta a hands-on view of health service development. As part of the DiabetesCare360 program, she observed how the Hippo Clinic service is adapted to support professionals’ daily work and documented user experiences and development needs. The role of technology and regulation became evident in daily development work—laws, regulations, and data protection issues were present at every stage. “I believe future health services will be built on data-driven approaches—but always in a way that keeps people and their privacy at the center,” Jokiniemi reflects.
Jokiniemi holds a degree in social and healthcare from a university of applied sciences and has practical experience in clinical tasks as an occupational therapist. This background is reflected in her way of working. “Reeta has been a proactive and solution-oriented intern. She contributed valuable ideas to the Future Health event and structured information clearly, which helped clients prepare for implementations. Her strong language skills and industry experience have supported client communication, especially in interpreting social and healthcare reforms,” says Minna Blomster, Business Director at HippocrAItes.
"It has been eye-opening to see how research and theory turn into practical solutions that make everyday life easier for patients and professionals. I hope that through my work I can promote functionality, accessibility, and personalization in health services," Jokiniemi concludes.
