MyData Global, an international nonprofit that promotes human-centric approaches to personal data, has recognised HippocrAItes for its contribution to advancing ethical and transparent data use in healthcare.
The Hippo Health Platform is designed to meet the growing demand for personalized and data-driven healthcare. The platform is built on the principles of the European Health Data Space (EHDS), promoting the secure and cross-border use of data in research, treatment, and decision-making. HippocrAItes is committed to ensuring that the use of personal data is always justified, understandable, and legitimate from the individual's perspective.
One of the platform's core concepts is that an individual is not merely a passive subject of data, but an active participant in their own care. Health data can be practically utilized, for example, through a digital twin—a personalized model created from long-term health data. This model can help identify diseases early and prevent more serious health issues.
The MyData Award also recognises HippocrAItes’ role in fostering public dialogue around responsible data use. The organisation has hosted seminars and events that bring together experts from various fields — including healthcare professionals, researchers, technology developers, and specialists in data protection and cybersecurity — to explore how health data can be used in ways that are both ethically sound and respectful of individual rights.
“Our goal is to increase understanding of the opportunities and limitations related to the use of health data, and to develop technology that truly serves people,” says Juuso Haavisto, CEO of HippocrAItes.
HippocrAItes is founded on the principle that technology and data should always support and empower people. "HippocrAItes is moving in the right direction, developing solutions that assist healthcare professionals and patients in ways that are ethical, safe and human-centric. The MyData Award recognises the important contribution they are making towards a future people have genuine control over their health data, and where digital tools are built on trust, transparency and fairness", says Christopher Wilson, Executive Director of MyData Global.
